Paul, you are so right about Ghostley & Meshach Taylor. They had a natural chemistry and it was hysterical when she would serenade him with her "Black Man" song. I must admit I disliked the show after Delta & Jean left. However, I did watch the very last episode. The final scene was Alice being carried up the stairs ala Scarlett/Rhett by Meschach in Bernice's dayfream.Gilby37https://www.blogger.com/profile/12559239743969365425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344878851139332715.post-14743330529426375022009-10-18T22:27:27.657-04:002009-10-18T22:27:27.657-04:00Gilby, reading about Alice reminded me of Paul Lyn...Gilby, reading about Alice reminded me of Paul Lynde. They both appeared on "Bewitched" and each could deliver a humorous comment very naturally. This was a wonderfully written article about a very talented character actress. You did an excellent job and I really enjoyed your work!toto2https://www.blogger.com/profile/09652682900471649463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344878851139332715.post-60386927494988312382009-10-18T19:25:25.116-04:002009-10-18T19:25:25.116-04:00Sark you really had to go there?. Gilby, Alice flat out stold every sceen she was in on "Designing Women" Dixie and Annie ,and Delta never had a chance, and her chemistry with Meshach was a joy to watch. He always looked on the verge of just losing it. I would love to see a out take/ blooper real from that show.Paul 2https://www.blogger.com/profile/11500682719536011343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344878851139332715.post-9998164980957645972009-10-18T18:39:00.468-04:002009-10-18T18:39:00.468-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Paul 2https://www.blogger.com/profile/11500682719536011343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344878851139332715.post-34805546030822002622009-10-18T17:29:57.393-04:002009-10-18T17:29:57.393-04:00Wow, Gilby, I didn't know Alice Ghostley had s...Wow, Gilby, I didn't know Alice Ghostley had so many television credits to her name (though Whit Bissell may have had even more). I remember Ms. Ghostley best from BEWITCHED; she was perfect as the befuddled Esmeralda. I also remember her from a short-lived TV series called CAPTAIN NICE, which starred William Daniels as the title superhero and Alice Ghostley as his mother.Rick29https://www.blogger.com/profile/08358116647815569722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344878851139332715.post-18765855333794637702009-10-18T17:26:10.759-04:002009-10-18T17:26:10.759-04:00What a splendidly written article! Focus on a familiar actor who people may know but not necessarily know from where they remember him/her. As you said, Alice Ghostley will be acknowledged by most for her role in GREASE, which, as it happens, is the word, is the word that they heard... Thanks for putting Ms. Ghostley in the limelight for us all, Gilby!sarkoffagushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00922698736476674377noreply@blogger.com
